Josias was born about 1698 in York County, VA.  Josias' father was Richard Burt and his mother was Elizabeth Moody.  His maternal grandparents were Josias Moody and Elizabeth Folliott. He had two brothers and a sister, named Moody, William and Burt. He had a half-brother named Richard the Younger.  He died about 1758 in York County, VA.
