Frances was born in 1844.  Frances' father was Nancy Castleman and her mother was William C Brown.  Her paternal grandparents were John Henry Castleman and Frances Gatewood. She had four brothers and a sister, named John R, Augustine, Lewis, William and Mary.  She was the fifth oldest of the six children.
