James was born in 1759 in Taluegue, KY.  James' father was Chief Aaron Red Bird Tuchuwor Tuchawar Brock (Chalakatha Cherokee Metis 7/32) and his mother was Susannah Caroline Christian Priber (Cherokee).  His paternal grandparents are Willenawah Eh-gwa'wehali and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Rev Christian Gottlieb Priber (Saxon) and Susan Moytoy Clogoittah Carpenter (Ani'-Ga'tâge'wi = Kituah or Wild Potato). He had three brothers and two sisters, named Aaron Brock Red Bird, Jesse James, John Atsilagolanv, Mahala Susannah and Mary Polly.  He was the youngest of the six children. He had a half-brother named Russell SIzemore.  He died at the age of 72 on September 22nd, 1831 in Cumberland County, KY.
