Andrew Holmes Hunter was born in June 1814. Andrew Holmes Hunter's father was Gen. Elisha Boyd and his mother was Ann Nancy Holmes. His paternal grandfather was John Boyd and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Griffith; his maternal grandparents were Col Joseph Holmes and Rebecca Hunter. He has a sister named Mary Wagner Waggoner. He is the older of the two children.
