Hugh was born about 1772.  Hugh's father is Samuel Moses Bingham Jr and his mother is Ursula Granville.  His paternal grandparents are Samuel Moses Bingham and Mary Elizabeth Kennedy; his maternal grandparents are Sir? Granville, the ruler of Sack Isle off the coast of France Granville and Susannah Finger. He has two brothers and a sister, named William, Samuel Moses and Margaret.  He is the oldest of the four children.
