Absalom was born in 1780.  Absalom's father was Michael Ailstock and his mother is Rebecca Goin.  His paternal grandfather was Chief Keigh-tugh-qua, or Cornstalk Shawnee chieftain and his paternal grandmother is Julia (Scot-Mulatto); his maternal grandparents are Goin and <Unknown>. He has two brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, Michael, Mary, Susannah and Elizabeth.  He is the fifth oldest of the six children.
