      L to R: Lee Kaufman, Tom Adler, Bob Sayers, at Champaign, IL, 1968.  When they were all undergraduate students at the Univ. of Illinois, they constituted a band that played under the name "Girl in the Blue Velvet Band"  -- a pun based on the old song of that name.  Lee sold Tom the mandolin he is holding;  Tom is holding his c. 1953 Gibson Mastertone "bowtie" banjo.
