Thomas Maria was born in 1515 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Thomas Maria's father was Richard Wingfield and his mother was Bridget Wiltshire. His maternal grandparents were John Wiltshire and Margaret LeGrand. He had two brothers and a sister, named Charles, Jacques and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Vincent and Annie. He died at the age of 90 in 1605.-
