John Bates 
John was born on May 23rd, 1598 in Canterbury, Kent, , England. John's father was JOHN B II Bates and his mother was MARY Martine. His paternal grandparents were JOHN I Bates and MILDRED Ward; his maternal grandparents were JAMES Martin and JOAN Adam. He had eight brothers and six sisters, named Robert, JAMES, Thomas, Thomas, Edward, Clement, Joseph, Isaac, Anna, Jane, Mary, Joanna, Rachel and Martha. He was the sixth youngest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 68 on January 24th, 1667 in Middletown Parish, York, Virginia, United States.-
