Prince Gal Macsgillen of Isles

Gal was born in 1149 in Morven, Argyleshire, Scotland.¹ Gal's father was King Somerled of the Isles and his mother was Ragnhild Olafsdatter. His paternal grandparents were Thane of Argyle Gillebride MacGilleadamnan and Agatha Ingrid Sweden; his maternal grandparents were Olaf Bitling Godfredsson and Ingebiorg Hakonsdatter. He had five brothers and a sister, named Mac Ruaidhri, Angus, Olave, Rognvald, Alan and Beatrice. He was the third youngest of the seven children.
