Adelicia, known as The Fair Maid, was born about 1115 in Florennes, Louvaine, Brabant, France.1   The Fair Maid's father was Duke of Lower Lorraine Godfrey (The Bearded) of Brabrant and her mother was Countess Ida de Chiny.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Henry de Louvain II and Countess Adelaide von Betuwe; her maternal grandparents were Otto de Chiny II and Adelaide de Namur. She had a brother and a sister, named Godfrey and Ida.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died on April 23rd, 1151 in Affligham, Flanders, France.  She was buried in Reading Abbey, Reading, Berkshire, England.2 3
