Robert was born in 1108 in Richmond, Yorkshire, England.1   Robert's father was Hugh Chamberlain and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Odo de Chamberlain and <Unknown>. He had a brother named Paganus.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 57 in 1165.1
