Aelfred, known as The Englishman, was born in 1065 in Kendal Castle, Westmoreland, Cumbria, England.1   The Englishman's father was 1st Baron of Kendal Ivo FitzRichard de Rounmare Taillebois and his mother was Lucy Beatrice of Mercia.  His paternal grandparents were Richard FitzGerold de Roumare and Beatrice de Taillebois; his maternal grandparents were Earl of Mercia, Earl of East Anglia Aelfgar (The Saxon) of Mercia III and Aelfgifu Saxe-Wessex. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Eldred, Robert, William, Beatrice, Adeliza, Matilda and Lucia.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died in Mercia, England.1
