Robert's father was John Thruston and his mother was Thomasine (Rich) Warren. His paternal grandparents were Malachias Thruston and <Unknown>. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Edward, Thomas, John, Malachy, John, Simon, Justian, Grace, Thomasine, Alice, Melicious and Ann.
