John was born in 1325 in Salford, Lancashire, England.1   John's father was Thomas Strangeways and his mother was Alice.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey Strangeways and Sibel. He had a brother named Henry.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 60 in 1385 in Salford, Lancashire, England.2
