America was born on February 13th, 1813 in Kentucky.1   America's father was James M.? Staten and her mother was Mary Polly Herrington. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, James, William, Joseph, A.J., Newton, Mary, Martha, Matilda and Sally.  She died at the age of 61 on November 30th, 1874.2
