Martha Ellen Skaggs 
Martha was born on December 20th, 1859 in Green County, Kentucky.1 Martha's father was Fielding (Fields) Skaggs and her mother was Nancy Jane Johnson. Her paternal grandparents were Fielding Skaggs and Sarah (Sally) Perry; her maternal grandparents were William Johnson and Sarah (Sally) Skaggs. She had two brothers and a sister, named Henry, Sylvester and Mary. She was the second oldest of the four children.-
