Maryann was born in 1835 in Van Buren Co, TN and her baptism took place in Birth Fact. Maryann's father was Joseph N. Simmons and her mother was Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Lewis. Her paternal grandparents were James Simmons and Stacy Ann Roberts. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin Lewis, Joseph Henry Knox, James D., Andrew Jackson 'Jack', George Washington, Mamie Elizabeth and Katherine. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children. She had a half-sister named Francis M..General Notes
