Mary A. was born in 1870 in Van Buren Co, TN. Mary A.'s father was Joseph Henry Knox Simmons and her mother was Susan M. Ramsey. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph N. Simmons and Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Lewis. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Sylvester E., Joseph L., Stacy J. and Eva Lee. She was the third oldest of the five children.General Notes
