Benjamin Lewis was born on September 18th, 1899 in TN and his baptism took place in Draft Registration. Benjamin Lewis' father was Benjamin Lewis Simmons Jr. and his mother was Mary Eliza Holmes. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Lewis Simmons Sr. and Nancy Caroline Beatty. He had five sisters named Carrie Mabel, Viola L., Nina F., Cora Lorraine and Lula Belle.
