Samuel Ayers Roberts 
Samuel Ayers was born on February 28th, 1858 in Ellisboro, Rockingham Co, NC.1 Samuel Ayers' father was James Ellis Roberts and his mother was Jane Moore. His paternal grandparents were Martin Roberts and Elizabeth Gilliland. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Richard M., James Henry, William Franklin, Andrew Jackson, Margaret Malinda, Sarah M., Gillie Virginia and Susan Frances. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Walter, Ann Elizabeth and Mary Jane. He died at the age of 77 on March 13th, 1935.1 General Notes
