John Elgin Roberts 
John Elgin was born on August 17th, 1841 in Orange Co, NC.1 John Elgin's father was John W. Roberts and his mother was Judith Clement. His paternal grandparents were William Roberts and Lucy Jane Umstead. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Albert Clark, William C., Susan and Sarah A.. He was the youngest of the five children. He died at the age of 68 on October 26th, 1909 in Cleveland Co, NC. He was buried in Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery, Cleveland Co, NC.1 General Notes
