Charles was born in 1878 in Orange Co, NC.1 Charles' father was James Roberts and his mother was Louella Emma Unknown. His paternal grandparents were James H. Roberts and Jane Carrington. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert, James, Minnie, Julia and Addie. He was the oldest of the six children.1 General Notes
