Artaxerxes I was born in 504 BC. Artaxerxes I's father was Xerses I Ahasuerus Persia and his mother was Esther Hadassah. His paternal grandparents were Darius I Persia and Atossa Persia; his maternal grandparents were Abihail and <Unknown>. He was an only child. He died in 425 BC in Susa, Elam (Iran).1 General Notes
