• General Notes

  Thomas was probably the oldest son of Flayle Payne. He was an adult by the year 1744 so we estimate his year of birth to be about 1723. His will was dated 8 July 1765. His land, Payne's Industry, was left to his sone John and his land, "That or None" to sone Flayll. He bequeathed a gold ring to his daugther, Joanna Payn. The rest of his estate was divided among his other children but they were not named in the will. No wife is named in the will..so she probably died before him. These children may have moved into Bedford Co. VA in 1779 with their Uncle Flayl Payne Jr. and his family.
