Thomas was born in 1654 in Richmond, Virginia.1   Thomas' father was Thomas Newman Sr. and his mother was Elizabeth Burdette.  His paternal grandparents were John Newman and Elizabeth Martin; his maternal grandparents were Henry Burdette and <Unknown>. He had five sisters named Ann, Patience, Mary, Sarah and Frances.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 52 in 1706 in Richmond County, Virginia.1
