Laird of Eglinton John was born about 1482 in Eglinton Castle, Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. Laird of Eglinton John's father was 1st Earl of Eglinton Hugh Montgomery and his mother was Helen Campbell. His maternal grandparents were 1st Earl of Argyll Sir Colin Campbell and Isobel Stuart. He had three sisters named Marion, Lady Isabel and Margaret. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died on April 28th, 1520 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.-
