Anne was born in 1544 in , Sussex, England. Anne's father was Thomas Kempe and her mother was Cecily Katherine Cheyney. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Cheney of Shurland, later of Toddington and Frydeswith FROWICH (dau of Sir Thomas Frowyke, chief justice). She had four sisters named Ellen, Fryswyde, Margaret and Alice. She was the second oldest of the five children.General Notes
