Robert was born about 1540 in Hunterston, Ayrshire, Scotland. Robert's father was Kentigern Hunter and his mother was Janet Hamilton. His maternal grandparents were James Hamilton and Christian Stewart. He had a brother named John. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1580.General Notes
