William McKinley Hash 
William McKinley was born on August 11th, 1900 in Clipper,Taylor Co.,Kentucky. William McKinley's father was Thomas Jefferson Hash and his mother was Mary Maggie Lee. His maternal grandparents were Henry Lee and Elizabeth Warren. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Carl Otis, Bernie Soloman, Howard Taylor, Jack Bell, Melviana, Bessie Almer and Ida Waneta. He died at the age of 72 on July 23rd, 1973 in Taylor Co.,Kentucky. He was buried in Memorial Gardens,Campbellsville,Kentucky.General Notes
MAN WITH LARGE FAMILY GETS NO MERCY IN COURT
The man whom Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt was interested about two years ago, because he was in prison and the father of such a big family, was back on the prison list yesterday after conviction of bootlegging in Federal Court.
The man, william McKinley Hash , 42 of near Hibernia, Kentucky, was recogized as the occupant of a car containing liquor seized by Alcohol Control agents last April. Herman R. Skaggs, 21, of 631 South 3rd, worker at Tube Turns, who never had a police record pleaded quilty to the charge of transporting the whiskey. He denied Hash was guilty, saying a Negro whom he did not know, was riding in the car. Skaggs was living near Campbellsbille at the time.
Same old plea made.
Hash pleaded for mercy. However, Federal Judge Shecklford Miller, citing the man's record, daid the appeals are always based on the large family- eight children under 14. Assistant U. S. District Attorney J. D. Inman recomended four years on the first count and three on the second count. The judge sid he felt constrained to conside the family and sentenced Hash to two years. Skaggs was sentenced to a year and a Day. Judge Miller remarked that no one would believe his story and the jury evidently had not. "Had you told the truth, the court awould consider probation. You come here to take a rap for Hash. There has been too much perjured testimony, not only in this case but in several others. the court is fed up with perjured testimony."
Attorneys Ask Mercy
Claude hudgins, attorney for Skaggs, and co-counsel George Bertram, Campbellsvilel, asked for mercy for Hash.
"A man can't make a living up in that counry , " Mr. Hudgins told the court "That may be true, but the court can't sit here and make that a license for breaking the laws. I'll tell Hash now if he ever appears before me again, I'll put him away for a long time," said the judge.
Hardest his by the proceedings was Skagg's child -wife of two weeks, Effie McAneer Skaggs, who was "15 last April," but looks 11. She sobbed in a corridor. She said her parents lived in Nelson County , but she "will get a job here if I can."
