John Hamilton 
John was born about 1535 in Isle of Arran, Ayrshire, Scotland. John's father was 2nd Earl of Arran James Hamilton and his mother was Margaret Douglas. His paternal grandparents were 1st Earl of Arran James Hamilton and Janet Beaton. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, 3rd Earl of Arran James, David, Gavin, 1st Baron Paisley Claude, Barbara, Anne, Margaret and Jean. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died on April 6th, 1604 in Abertorthwick, Forfarshire, Scotland.-
