John Wiley was born on February 23rd, 1853 in Marion County, Iowa. John Wiley's father was Joseph Benjamin Foster and his mother was Mary Ellen Nichols. His paternal grandparents were Austin Foster and Lucinda Boyd. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James Allen, Joseph H, George E, Nancy Allen, Lucinda F, Isabelle, Alicia D and Julia. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 69 on October 15th, 1922 in Sidney, Fremont, Iowa, United States. He was buried in October 1922 in Sidney Cemetery, Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa.-
