William was born in 1154 in Oswestry Castle, Shropshire, England.1   William's father was William FitzAlan Lord of Oswestry,Sir and his mother was Isabel De Say [Lady Of Clune.  His maternal grandparents were Elias [Ellis\Ingram] de Say , Lord of Clun and <Unknown>. He had a brother named Robert De.  He was the younger of the two children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Reginald De, William De and Emma de.  He died at the age of 56 in 1210 in Clun,Shropshire,England.1
