Robert was born in 1336 in Windsor Castle, Berkshire, England.1 Robert's father was William De Montague and his mother was Katherine De Grandison. His maternal grandparents were Sir William De Grandison and Sibyl De Tregoz. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, William III, Elizabeth, Anne, Sibyl and Phillipa. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Edward.-
