She was the third youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 85 on March 30th, 1981 in Bolton, Hinds, Mississippi. Elvie was a beautiful woman, lovely features and a soft way about her. Why she never married remains a family puzzle. She had TB for many years and was in a sanitarium. She worked in Washington DC after she recovered in the Civil Service.
