Dionisia was born about 1248 in Ilfracombe, Devonshire, England. Dionisia's father was Sir Henry De Champernon and her mother was Dionisia English. Her paternal grandparents were Sir Oliver De Champernon and Eva Andea Wymarca. She had three brothers and a sister, named William, Oliver, Sir Richard and Margaret. She was the second oldest of the five children.-
