Sallie A was born about 1902 in North Carolina.1 Sallie A's father was Thomas Franklin Barneycastle and her mother was Isabell Foster. Her maternal grandparents were James Foster and Mary Baxley. She had four brothers and two sisters, named John P, John F, Willis Grady, Charles H, Effie W and Effie N. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.-
