Joel Tilley

Joel was born in 1831 in Chapel Hill, Orange Co, NC. Joel's father was James Tilley and his mother was Temperance Roberts. His maternal grandparents were George Roberts and Nancy Mize. He had seven brothers and six sisters, named George William, Hinton Vance, James Sidney, Atlas, Emmett Harrison, Dock, Henry Adolphus, Minerva, Adeline, Nancy Caroline, Julia Ann, Edna A. and Parthenia. He was the second oldest of the fourteen children.
