Lou was born in September 1890 in White Co, TN.  Lou's father was Druey Dillon Simmons and her mother was Linda Simmons.  Her paternal grandparents were William Simmons and Susannah E. Adair. She had three brothers and a sister, named Charles, Rhea, Ernest and Emma.  She was the youngest of the five children. She had four half-brothers and six half-sisters, named J. Dillon, Roy C., Barney, Druey Bernice, May, Ada, Frances Lydia, Dolly F., Alta L. and Ethel A..
