R. A. was born in 1879 in Bedford Co, TN.1   R. A.'s father was William Roberts and his mother was Louisa J. Unknown.  His paternal grandparents were Nathan Roberts and Jamima Meadows. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named John T., Eliza Ivie, Nathaniel, William, Henry L., S. A., V. F., H. E., Roxann, Jimina, Sallie P., Belle and Nancy.  He was the youngest of the fourteen children.1
