Bessie Isabelle was born on August 28th, 1897 in Cherokee Co, NC.1   Bessie Isabelle's father was John D. Roberts and her mother was Ollie Coleman.  Her paternal grandparents were John Wesley Roberts and Josephine M. Parker. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Steve Elisha, Bass, Decater, Olen, Clara Christine 'Tina', Mae, Ethel, Jane, Bertie and Lillie Ben.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 72 on August 14th, 1970 in Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherokee Co, NC.  She was buried in Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherokee Co, NC.1
