Addison Toplady was born on May 27th, 1850 in Danville City, Henry Co, VA.1   Addison Toplady's father was Fountaine Nance and his mother was Jemina Vincent Grant.  His maternal grandparents were Archibald Grant and Lydia Roberts. He had two brothers and four sisters, named James B., Archibald Harding, Louisiana F. 'Lucie Ann', Frances Jemina, Mary T. and Ada Adele.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 70 in 1920.1
