Carrie was born in 1861.1   Carrie's father was George W. Welch and her mother was Sarah Durant.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Welch and Elizabeth Leach. She had three brothers named Edward, Joseph and William M..  She was the youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Jesse C., Florence L., Estella, Hahey and Myrtle.1
