Ruth was born on February 9th, 1784.1   Ruth's father was Matthew Watson and her mother was Mary Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Watson and Margarette Gray. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Benjamin, Eunice, Sally, Clarissa and Betsey.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.1
