George C. Stanley 
George C. was born in 1833 in NY.1 George C.'s father was John Orsemus Stanley and his mother was Dolly Flansburg. His maternal grandparents were John M. Flansburg and Catherine Becker. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John Wesley, James Madison, William I., Mary Ann, Catharine Margaret, Maria and Helen Evaline. History of Knox Co., IL (1878) pub. by Chas. A. Chapman & Co. on p. 372 lists Geo. C. Stanley of Copley as entering the 9th Cavalry Co. K 2 October 1861, served in MO, discharged 31 Oct 1864, rank 1st Sgt.
