Adam was born in 1873 in Braidwood, Illinois.1   Adam's father was George Skeldon and his mother was Janet Young.  His paternal grandparents were Adam Skeldon and Anne Black. He had two brothers and a sister, named Alexander, George Alexander and Ann Black.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 7 in 1880.1
