Henry was born about 1676.1   Henry's father was Samuel Ruggles and his mother was Anna Bright.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Ruggles and Mary Curtis; his maternal grandparents were DeacHenry Bright and Anne Goldstone. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Nathaniel, Anna, Elizabeth and Huldah.  He was the second youngest of the six children.1
