Mercy was born in 1811.1   Mercy's father was Josiah Phillips and her mother was Sally Newell.  Her paternal grandparents were Caleb Phillips and Martha Bishop. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Caleb, Joseph N, Josiah, Berzalia, Laura, Sally, Betsey, Alvira, Louisa and Precilla.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.  She died in Rutland, VT.1
