John was born about 1338 in Of Sandford, Peverell, Devonshire, England.1   John's father was Hugh Peverell and his mother was Margaret (Elizabeth) Cobham. He had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas, Margaret, Joan, Dionesia and Amicia.  He was the second youngest of the six children.1
