Joseph was born in 1828.1   Joseph's father was James Latta and his mother was Nancy Hannah Holloway.  His paternal grandfather was John Latta; his maternal grandfather was Thomas Holloway. He had three brothers and a sister, named Anderson, Simpson N., James and Mary.1
